Chapel Hill, NC  ̶  May 24, 2016  ̶  Rho, a Chapel Hill-based full-service contract research organization (CRO) focused on bringing new products to market through a complete range of product development services, announced today that it has donated $28,000 to the March of Dimes. Rho has been committed to supporting the March of Dimes for more than 15 years because the organization provided great care of Rho President and Co-Founder Mary W. Helms’ family when her dad was diagnosed with polio when she and her siblings were very young.

The donation was a result of several events Rho hosted for its employees including a silent auction, BBQ lunch and raffle ticket sales, as well as money raised by Rho employees who participated in the March of Dimes walk on April 30. Additionally, Rho matched every dollar raised, bringing the company’s total donation amount to $28,000.

“Giving back to the March of Dimes has been a key focus for Rho over the last three decades because of the tremendous impact it personally made on my family,” said Russ Helms, co-CEO, Rho.  “We are thrilled with the results of our fundraising activities this year and look forward to continuing to support of this very important organization that has helped so many babies across the country,” added Russ.

The fundraising events kicked off on April 4 with a Silent Auction held in the lobby of Rho’s headquarters. Some of the featured auction items included framed artwork, horseback riding lessons, a pet portrait, a week’s stay at a beach house, and four-night stay at a Blue Ridge Mountain Cabin. On April 30, 15 Rho employees participated in the March for Babies - Triangle 2016 walk, which raised $5,000 for the cause.  The fundraising activities wrapped up on May 5 when Rho hosted a BBQ lunch and raffle for its employees. Some of the raffle items included a seven-night stay at a condo on Carolina Beach, a $50 Top of the Hill gift certificate, golf for four at Prestonwood Country Club, and tickets to the NC Symphony's Summer Fest Concert Series at Cary's Koka Booth Amphitheatre.

The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. For more than 75 years, moms and babies have benefited from March of Dimes research, education, vaccines, and breakthroughs.
