PASADENA, CA, UNITED STATES - Feb 13, 2018 - HIMSS has named Wout Brusselaers, chief executive officer of Deep 6 AI , an artificial intelligence (AI) company focused on accelerating patient recruitment for clinical trials, as a speaker for the 2018 HIMSS Conference & Exhibition (HIMSS18). Brusselaers will co-present the “Finding the ROI of AI” educational session with Bobbie J. Rimel, MD, gynecologic oncologist and associate director for gynecological clinical trials at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, on March 8, 2018 at 2:30 pm PT. HIMSS18 brings together 45,000+ health information and technology professionals, clinicians, executives and vendors from around the world. Exceptional education, excellent speakers, cutting-edge health information and technology products and powerful networking are hallmarks of this industry-leading conference.

“Finding the ROI of AI” will explore the role of artificial intelligence in enabling health systems to perform more clinical trials, boost revenues, attract and retain talent and provide patients with access to cutting-edge treatments. Brusselaers and Dr. Rimel will illustrate the return on investment (ROI) of AI through case study examples in which researchers benchmarked AI against conventional subject identification methods. Beyond patient matching, the session will examine the entire trial design and recruitment cycle to find where AI can meaningfully support stakeholders and how accelerated patient recruitment for clinical trials impacts a health system’s revenue stream.

The HIMSS Annual Conference Education Committee (ACEC) selected the more than 350 educational sessions on the conference program. Proposals under review by the ACEC have gone through a peer-review selection process for enhanced efficiency and quality in selection of the educational offerings at the conference. This committee, composed of 16 appointed HIMSS volunteers from across all member constituencies, reviews and selects all presentations with those representing an organization or non-commercial interest given preference, a guideline followed to achieve continuing medical education or CME requirements.

“HIMSS18 offers relevant programming and actionable information that our attendees can use in their own work settings. Our speakers will share their insights on a variety of topics during the more than 350 education sessions scheduled before and during the conference, as well as on the exhibition floor,” said JoAnn W. Klinedinst, MEd, CPHIMS, PMP, DES, FHIMSS, vice president, professional development, for HIMSS. “I congratulate the presenters who will be part of our globally extensive and diverse programming schedule for HIMSS18.”
