Bacteria Detection Device Could ID Pathogens at Bedside
May 14, 2013 | Using DNA hybridization and detection with a miniaturized nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) device about the size of a microscope slide, researchers are able to test for several bacterial pathogens at once. Researchers identified 13 pathogens within two hours using the device. The technology may allow medical providers to more quickly diagnose bacterial infections leading to lower mortality rates and decreased lengths of stay in the hospital. Forbes
