MIT Develops Insulin-Releasing Nanoparticles
May 16, 2013 | Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) researchers recently developed injectable nanoparticles for patients with type 1 diabetes. These nanoparticles are designed to replace the function of islet cells, which produce insulin, in the pancreas by detecting glucose levels in the blood and responding by releasing the necessary amount of insulin needed to maintain normal blood glucose levels.
