A Compact for Interstate Telemedicine

July 1, 2014 | The Federation of State Medical Boards, which represents every U.S. medical licensing organization, has released draft legislation that would ease the licensing requirements for doctors treating patients in multiple states through telemedicine or online portals. If passed, the legislation would create a system of expedited additional licenses for doctors who are already licensed to practice in one state, and who have no legal or ethical blemishes on their records. The proposal has been drafted as an interstate compact, which states could independently choose to enter into, and not as a federal bill. New York Times
