Establishing Baseline: Google's Next Big Project
July 25, 2014 | Google's latest Google X project seeks to establish a medical baseline: a picture of what a healthy human looks like. For the Baseline Project, Google will collect fluid samples and genetic and molecular data--hundreds of data points--from anonymous patients without focusing on any disease area or condition. In the pilot phase, the project will collect information from 175 people, but the goal is thousands. The project is being overseen by institutional review boards at Duke University and Stanford. Google is also developing new wearable devices that would be worn by Baseline participants to collect more data. Wall Street Journal
