CISCRP Collaborates With ACRP for Medical Heroes 5K Run in Salt Lake City, Utah
BOSTON, MA, UNITED STATES - Nov 14, 2014 - The Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP) and the Association for Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP), two independent non-profit organizations, are excited to announce the upcoming Medical Heroes Appreciation 5K Run & Walk in Salt Lake City to celebrate the volunteers who give the gift of participation in clinical research and to raise awareness about the importance of clinical research in advancing public health.
CISCRP will hold the Medical Heroes Appreciation 5K Run & Walk in conjunction with the ACRP 2015 Global Conference & Exhibition. The event will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2015 near the Salt Palace Convention Center from 6:30-8:15am. Participants are encouraged to register early as space is limited. To register, visit ciscrp.org/medhero5k-SLC. On behalf of every 5K registrant, the Greater Gift Initiative will also donate a vaccine to a child in need.
Medical Heroes are the millions of people who help advance public health and medical knowledge by taking part in clinical trials each year, said CISCRPs founder, Ken Getz. This special event recognizes their gift, raises public awareness and appreciation, and hopefully will become an annual tradition at the ACRP Conference & Exhibition.
Running and walking enthusiasts and CISCRP and ACRP supporters are invited to participate and attend the event. Proceeds from the 5K will support education and outreach programs to patients and families interested in learning more about the clinical research process.
We could not be happier about our partnership with CISCRP and the opportunity it presents to recognize those who give the gift of clinical trial participation, says James Thomasell, ACRP Executive Director. The advancement of new medical treatments would not occur without this gift. On behalf of all of our global members, we are thrilled to be able to honor those who volunteer as clinical trial participants.
Check-in the day of the event begins at 6am; and the 5K Run & Walk will begin at 6:30am. For more information about the event, to volunteer, register or become a sponsor, visit ciscrp.org/medhero5k-SLC. Questions about event registration should go to Ellyn Getz (617) 725-2750, e-mail medhero5k@ciscrp.org, or call toll free 1-877-MED-HERO.
