Rho’s Meagan Vaughn Honored as “Triangle’s Finest” by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

CHAPEL HILL, NC, UNITED STATES - Nov 19, 2018 - Rho’s Meagan Vaughn was recently honored at the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation’s annual “Brewer’s Ball Celebrating Triangle’s Finest” event.  Vaughn was one of five honorees for Triangle’s Finest, a program for Triangle-area young professionals committed to professional development and personal growth through fundraising and awareness.  Finest honorees exemplify strong leadership qualities, are active in their community, and have excelled in their chosen professions.

On November 16, Vaughn was recognized at the CF’s Brewer’s Ball celebration where over 160 attendees gathered at the American Institute of Architects in Raleigh to celebrate the Triangle’s Finest and benefit the CF Foundation.

Since 2015, in her role as a clinical research scientist at Rho, Vaughn has worked on some exciting clinical development programs for potential new CF therapies.  “Through this work, I gained a deeper understanding of the impact this disease has on the lives of CF patients and their loved ones. What began as work quickly turned into a more personal journey,” she said. “It was these brave patients and their inspirational stories that motivated me to get more involved with the remarkable group of caregivers, advocates, and volunteers in the CF community.”

Vaughn was recognized at the top honoree by raising over $5,600 through online fundraising, corporate sponsorship, silent auction donations, and hosting several events including a “Sweat for CF” fitness-fundraising event on November 3 at Orangetheory Fitness in Chapel  Hill.  Mebane Knights will also host the band “Autopilot” on Friday November 30th for a fundraiser show benefitting the CF Foundation.   Vaughn has also been an active participant in the local CF community as a council member for Tomorrow’s Leaders (a young professionals program through the CFF) and team lead for the Great Strides team, “Rho-llin for the Cure”.

“I am thrilled to be one of the Triangle’s Finest honorees this year, and I am grateful for all who donated to my fundraising campaign focused on finding a cure for CF in the not so distant future.  Their support will help add tomorrows to the lives of people with cystic fibrosis by supporting groundbreaking research and medical progress,” said Vaughn.

Meagan’s mentor during the program and CFF Carolinas Chapter Board Member and past Board Chair, Cat Lineberry said, “Meagan fully embraced her involvement in Finest and was one of the most impressive participants we have ever had in this innovative leadership program.  Her research focus in cystic fibrosis only added to her passion for the Finest program.  Meagan’s energy, initiative and creativity was inspirational and her fundraising success is greatly appreciated by our Board as well as our CF families. I was truly honored to have the opportunity to work with Meagan and could not be more proud of her success in the program.”
